Panchayat sets up women’s health club

Established at a cost of ₹2.75 lakh

The Perinjanam grama panchayat has set a model for others in women’s health care by starting a women’s health club .

The club will help the women to get rid of lifestyle diseases and to build a healthy body and mind, said the panchayat president K.K. Sachith.

The fitness club has been set up at a cost of ₹2.75 lakh from the fund for women’s health. There are 16 equipments, including treadmill, cross trainer, crunches machine, bench press, elliptical magnetic cycle and skipping rope.

They will help to burn calories and to improve blood circulation. The club is functioning at old conference hall of the Community Centre at Kuttilakkadavu.

There are morning and evening schedule such as 6.30 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 3.30 p.m. to 7 p.m., suitable for office-going women and students. A woman trainer will guide them to do the exercises.
