NEW DELHI: An executive of a hotel chain was stabbed by three snatchers outside his house in east Delhi’s Madhu Vihar on Thursday. The victim, Rahul Bisht, lost his two fingers while fighting them, police said.
At 3.30am, Bisht had parked his car in the lane outside his house and was collecting his belongings when three men grabbed him by his throat, and took his wallet and handbag.
The accused then left on a bike. Following a hot pursuit in his car, Bisht rammed their bike near Singla Sweets on the Mandawali road. The accused, however, got up and pulled Bisht out of the car, stabbed him a few times, and chopped his fingers.
In his complaint, Bisht said, “I saw the men drive towards me outside my house and I presumed that they had ulterior motive. Seeing them, I went back to my car and checked the locks, and just as I was about to turn, one of them grabbed me by the throat,” he said. Bisht claimed that despite them chopping off his fingers, he managed to snatch the knife from them. However, they slashed his left palm, hit him with a rod on the head and escaped.
Bisht said he managed to walk to a PCR van parked at the corner of the road and narrate his ordeal to the cops, who took him to a hospital and informed his family.
