A cyclist has been left fighting for life after crashing into a street sweeper and being trapped under its brushes.

The 30-year-old man was run over by the sweeper on Victoria Street at Abbotsford, in Melbourne inner-east, just after midnight.

He was rushed to hospital in a critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

The 30-year-old man was run over by the sweeper at Abbotsford, in Melbourne inner-east, just after midnight and was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries

The driver of the street sweeper, who was unhurt, stopped at the scene to assist.
