VIJAYAWADA: The ongoing war between AP and Telangana governments took a serious turn on Wednesday with TDP lodging a complaint with the police in Guntur against the Telangana government.
The AP government is also exploring legal avenues to file a defamation case against the Telangana government.
According to sources, chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has given his nod to officials to lodge a complaint against the Telangana police for allegedly sharing TDP data with opposition YSRC.
He has asked officials to study the legal position to file a defamation case against the Telangana government and the Telangana police for allegedly projecting TDP and the AP government in poor light.
Sources said there will be a two-pronged attack on the Telangana government and the Telangana police.
On one hand, TDP, whose AP headquarters is in Guntur, will file a police complaint in Guntur against the Telangana police. And on the other, the state government will take up a legal fight with the Telangana government and the Telangana police.
The move follows alleged threats by the Telangana government to register a case against the AP police in the data theft issue. While the Telangana government alleges that the AP government has passed on official data of voters to private IT firms, TDP accused the Telangana government of sharing party information with YSRC to help the latter at the hustings.
Even as the AP and the Telangana governments have locked horns over the alleged data theft, opposition parties – BJP and YSRC – met governor E S L Narasimhan in Hyderabad alleging that official data of people was shared by AP with private companies.
Naidu said the Telangana government was stooping low to help YSRC. “Telangana owes Rs 5,000 crore towards power charges. It is not clearing the dues. It is not distributing assets. While we are struggling to develop the state despite severe financial crunch, the Telangana government is conspiring against us to support YSRC,” Naidu tweeted on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, TDP general secretary and IT minister Nara Lokesh accused the Telangana government of helping YSRC to run a call centre in Hyderabad to woo TDP workers ahead of the assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
“This is violation of rules. All these irregularities are taking place in Hyderabad,” Lokesh said and released two telephone numbers from which calls were allegedly made by YSRC to influence TDP workers at grassroots.
