Navi Mumbai: Green crusader wins Woman Icon Award for filming wildlife

NAVI MUMBAI: The Panvel based young environmentalist and documentary filmmaker, Aishwarya Sridhar, has won the Woman Icon India Global Award in the "media category" for filming wildlife and wetlands in various places in Maharashtra. She recently received the award from the chief guest, Tamil Nadu governor, Thiru Banwarilal Purohit.
The Woman Icon Awards celebrate and honour the contributions of women who have excelled in different fields across the Globe. The initiative emphasizes the significant role played by women in society thereby appreciating their outstanding performance and perseverance. The Woman Icons are those who have displayed their exceptional capacity in the field of their choice. The aim of the Woman Icons is to facilitate a platform for women achievers. In this way their achievements are celebrated and showcased in the society. This will also empower the younger generation and ignite them to be a noble contributor to the society.
"I am very happy to receive this prestigious award. This has further boosted my will to do more work in the field of environment and wildlife,'' said Aishwarya.
She had recently also highlighted the worrying case of disappearing wetlands in Uran, Raigad district. She has also made a documentary film on the tigers at state's forest sanctuaries.
