As summer reaches its peak, water puddles dry up fast. Like human beings, animals and birds too are hit hard by the scorching sun.
Many environmental organisations have come up with the mission to provide water to birds and animals.
One of such project is the Sneha Thanneerkudam project by a group of environmental activists under the Choondal grama panchayat. They are implementing the project in education institutions, libraries and houses.
From trees
Under the project, mud pots filled with water are hung from trees. Elected representatives and students are participating along with environmentalists in the mission.
In another novel initiative, the anniversary celebrations of the Upper Primary School, Thrithallur, started by giving water to birds. Chief guest C.N. Jayadevan, MP, inaugurated the celebrations by filling water in the mud pots kept for birds.
