Pagani Huayra Successor Will Have AMG V12, Manual ‘Box – And An Electric Version

Pagani is developing a successor to the mighty Huayra hypercar and has confirmed that it will be offered with an AMG V12 engine as well as an all-electric drive.

Codenamed C10, the new Pagani won’t arrive until 2021, but according to Horacio Pagani himself, it will cater to the desires of customers. Speaking through his son and interpreter Christopher Pagani, Horacio Pagani told Road & Track that about 70 per cent of his customers are asking for a manual transmission.

Consequently, the Italian car manufacturer will fulfil their wishes by fitting the Huayra’s successor with both a manual and a paddle-shift gearbox.

Much like the Huayra, the new hypercar will use a twin-turbo 6.0-liter V12 engine from Mercedes-AMG. Impressively, the car won’t need to be hybridized to meet emissions regulations in certain areas such as California.

The Huayra’s successor won’t just be a V12 monster with a stick shift, though. According to Pagani, an all-electric version is being developed as well – but for completely different reasons.

“There have been no existing or prospective customers asking for a full-electric car. No dealer is asking for it, but we believe in it.

“We believe that this is going to be a big challenge for us; it’s going to help us to be very creative, to be very proactive, to use fantasy. It’ll be a very expensive project, but we believe it is the right thing to do,” Pagani said.

Prior to commencing production of its next model, Pagani must first complete production of the Huayra Roadster. It will also introduce the limited-run Huayra BC Roadster later this year.
