Around 16 benami properties worth Rs 100 crore seized in Rajasthan

Around 16 benami properties worth Rs 100 crore seized in Rajasthan JAIPUR: Benami Property Unit (BPU) of state income tax (I-T) department on Wednesday seized 16 benami properties worth Rs 100 crore on Jaipur-Delhi National Highway at Kukas and Khorameena.

This includes 15 properties and one bank account.

BPU has attached approximately 10.5 hectares of land in these areas. Om Prakash of Om Group purchased these properties in the name of Ram Singh Meena who is from Sawai Madhopur and according to sources was not in the financial condition to buy these assets.

Till now BPU has attached a total of 378 benami properties whose market value is approximately Rs 1250 crore. Out of these, the Adjudicating Authority in Delhi has confirmed attachment of 55 properties and acknowledged them as being benami.
