Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos’ intentionally earned yellow card, proved to be a bad decision after he thought the first leg win in Amsterdam would guarantee them a qualification. The 13-time European champions lost to Ajax in the second leg to proceed with a 5-3 win on aggregate.

For Ramos, the defeat was more hurtful as he had chosen the evening to record scenes for a documentary about his career. The captain was seen sitting in the stand with his family and friends surrounded by the specially designed decor.

Ramos was in the stand after he had received a late yellow card in the first leg. He fouled Ajax striker Kasper Dolberg and when asked about it, he said, “Looking at the result, I would be lying if I said I didn't force it".

"It is not to underestimate the opponent or to think that the series is over, but in football, you have to make hard calculations."

Ramos did this in order to play in the Champions League quarter-finals with a clean slate after he had his penalty backlog exhausted, according to UEFA rules.

The film which is produced by Amazon will now detail one of the biggest disappointments in the club's history.
