Nagpur: In a setback to Saoner MLA Sunil Kedar, the Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court on Wednesday directed the lower court to complete ongoing trial into multi-crore Nagpur District Central Cooperative Bank (NDCCB) scam within three months.
Before adjourning the hearing, a division bench comprising justices Pradeep Deshmukh and Rohit Deo asked the chief judicial magistrate (CJM) to comply with its orders in criminal case (No. 147/2002), pending since last 17 years.
The directives came while hearing a plea (CAO 519/2017) by Omprakash Kamdi and other depositors through counsel Shreerang Bhandarkar praying for recovery of Rs150 crore from the accused, including Kedar, the then bank chairman, and chief executive officer (CEO) Ashok Choudhary.
Earlier, Kedar’s counsel Akshay Naik informed that some cases related to the government securities (G-Secs) scam were also pending at HC’s principal bench in Mumbai against the main accused Sanjay Agrawal.
However, Bhandarkar pointed out that the trial was pending since 2002 for no reasons and also the HC’s orders of March 4 last year delivered by the bench led by Justice Bhushan Gavai.
