The Bachelor 2019 REVEALED! Handsome but 'nerdy' astrophysicist and 'Sheldon Cooper lookalike' Matt Agnew, 31, announced as the new hunk set to find love on the hit Network Ten show

The identity of the man set to be this year's new Bachelor has finally been revealed.

On Thursday, handsome astrophysicist Matt Agnew was announced as the hunk set to grace Australian screens on the upcoming season of the Network Ten show.

Sporting a passion for space and astronomy, the 31-year-old Lothario, who is often likened to Big Bag Theory's Sheldon Cooper, is determined to find 'the one'.

'I'm genuinely interested in meeting someone and this is definitely an exciting way to do that,' Matt gushed while speaking to The Daily Telegraph

Although the handsome hunk admits going on the show is an 'unorthodox way' of meeting his future ladylove, he's still up for the challenge.

'Being The Bachelor is certainly an unorthodox way to meet someone, but I would never shy away from exploring an opportunity just because it's a little out of left-field,' he told the publication.

'I've got a real 'do it once, do it right' mentality so I'll be making sure I throw myself into it, be vulnerable and enjoy what comes from that,' he added.

The photos also show Matt's admirable features - including a chiseled visage, ripped physique and short brunette locks.

Speaking to Ten Daily, Matt revealed he worries he may bore his Bachelorettes.

He tells the publication: 'You know how sometimes after you've been talking for like 20 minutes about a topic you're really excited about, you apologise for "being boring and waffling on?"'.

It comes after former Wallabies star Nick 'The Honey Badger' Cummins completed his Bachelor journey last year.

Starting his quest for love on August 15, Nick, 31, had a total of 25 female suitors vying for his heart on the Network Ten show.

During the shock finale, however, the unlucky-in-love larrikin decided to leave the competition solo.
