A man has been found dead by the side of a road in Sydney's north-west.

The man, who is believed to be in his 50s, was found on First Avenue in Seven Hills about 6.30am on Wednesday, police said.

He has not been formally identified and police officers from Blacktown are investigating the circumstances of the man's death.
