PM Modi donates Rs 21 lakh from personal savings for Kumbh Mela sanitation workers

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday donated Rs 21 lakh from his personal savings to the corpus fund for the welfare of sanitation workers of Kumbh Mela.
The Prime Minister had made such donations even in the past. This is the latest among the series of such steps taken by PM Modi.
On receiving the Seoul Peace Prize in South Korea recently, he had announced that the entire prize money amounting to Rs 1.3 crore will be dedicated for the Namami Gange project, which was implemented to help clean river Ganga. Additionally, he had donated Rs 3.40 crore from the funds generated during the auction of his mementos for the clean Ganga initiative.
PM Modi had also donated Rs 8.33 crore raised during an auction of gifts he had received till 2015. The auction was held in Surat.
Upon completion of his tenure as the chief minister of Gujarat, Narendra Modi had donated Rs 21 lakh from personal savings for educating daughters of Gujarat government employees.
Rs 89.96 crore was raised by auctioning gifts he had received as the chief minister, which was donated to the Kanya Kelavani Fund. The money was spent on the education of girl child, through the scheme.
