Hyderabad: Two arrested for duping bank into lending Rs 2 crore loan

HYDERABAD: Central Crime Station (CCS) police arrested two persons for duping Bank of Maharashtra for Rs 2 crore by obtaining loan through forged documents.
The accused are, Dr Gouri Anil Kumar and Y Srinivas. On December 29, 2018, complainant, Radhey Shyam Bansal, zonal manager of Bank of Maharashtra, Hyderabad, approached the CCS police stating that M/s Anna Eco Logics Pvt Ltd in Begumpet, represented by its directors G Srikar, Y Venkatesh, approached the manager of Bank of Maharashtra's Khairatabad Branch seeking a cah credit of Rs 2 crore to start a business of sanitary napkin and maternity pad production.
Srikar and Venkatesh mortgaged the documents pertaining to 500 square yards plot situated at BK Guda in SR Nagar to avail the cash credit. After obtaining the loan, the duo failed to repay it and the bank has initiated proceedings under Sarfaesi Act. When the officials of the bank tried to identify the mortgaged property, they found that it was non existent and lodged a complaint with police.
During the course of investigation, police found out that Anil Kumar and Srinivas conspired with one Dr P Narayana and others to form M/s Anna Eco Logics Pvt Ltd in the name of benami directors Srikar and Venkatesh and got its office registered at a fictitious survey number using a land ownership document of 1961 in BK Guda, SR Nagar with sub registrar office, Ameerpet, to obtain loan from the bank in a fradulent manner, CCS ACP S V Hari Krishna said. The accused were remanded in judicial custody.
