Pakistan High Commissioner Sohail Mahmood is set to return shortly following consultations in Islamabad, even as the Imran Khan government said it would send a team on March 14 to discuss the draft agreement on the Kartarpur Corridor project.
Mr. Mahmood was recalled after tensions flared in the wake of the Pulwama attack and India’s air strikes on Balakot. He would be returning to New Delhi, after “completion of consultations in Islamabad”, a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Tuesday.
The statement said a reciprocal Indian visit would be made on March 28.
The bilateral tension had brought India-Pakistan projects to a standstill and both countries had declared withdrawal of envoys for consultation.
India had also terminated Pakistan’s Most Favoured Nation (MFN) status in retaliation after the Pulwama terror attack. Tuesday’s declaration on Kartarpur Corridor indicates that Pakistan will move ahead on the project as part of its move for de-escalation of the tension.
