Actress Janhvi Kapoor, who has turned a year older today, is a fashionista just like her late mother Sridevi. The veteran actress was way ahead of her time. Debuting with Karan Johar's Dhadak opposite Ishaan Khatter, Janhvi Kapoor stepped into Bollywood in a grandeur fashion. The film did decent business at the box office and also established her as a promising actress.
In an earlier interview with Hindustan Times, Janhvi opened up about being compared with her late mother Sridevi, saying was “not very excited” about the comparison, adding, “I don’t think anyone can be like her.”
“I think it’s just genetics and biology. I am her daughter so zaahir hai ki main unki tarah hi dikhungi. But my mum holds such a strong space in people’s heart and had a very personal connect. I hope I can please her fans also in some way in a bid to show gratitude for all the love she got. I hope I am given an opportunity to create my own identity. I don’t think anyone can be like her. What she had to offer to films and to people’s lives was greater than what any artiste could,” she said.
Years back, Janhvi wrote a heartfelt letter for Sridevi and shared how proud she was of her mother. She stated, “Dear Mom, growing up hearing about your aura, dedication, sincerity and inspirational grit to be the best and achieve the most always made me wish I was present to witness it all. Through all that you have done in your life, you have made me the proudest daughter in the world, and I love you the most. Your daughter, Janhvi.”
On the work front, Janhvi will essay the role of the Indian Air Force pilot Gunjan Saxena, who played an important role during the Kargil War in 1999.For unversed, Flight lieutenant Gunjan was posted in Kargil during the 1999 war. She not only evacuated injured soldiers from the war field flying through Kashmir but also experienced a brush with death while doing this.
