The next four days are likely to be very hot in the Rayalaseema region and people may suffer if proper protection is not taken, as temperatures are predicted to be above 40 degree Celsius.
Mercury levels have been on the rise in Anantapur district since February 27 and the city recorded a maximum temperature of 40 degree Celsius on Tuesday for the first time this summer season. On February 27, the maximum temperature recorded was 39 degree Celsius (normal 36), while the minimum was 22 (normal 20).
According to the temperature figures recorded by Agriculture Research Station, Rekulakunta, and IMD recording station in Anantapur district, for the past one week the mercury levels have been two to three degree Celsius above the normal (both maximum and minimum), Malleswari Sadineni, senior scientist of Agrometaeorology, told The Hindu.
Heatwave conditions
According to the forecast by the IMD, Hyderabad, heatwave conditions will prevail till March 10 with the maximum temperature is likely to be 41 degree Celsius on Wednesday, 40 degree Celsius the next three days and 38 degree Celsius on March 10.
The minimum temperature is also likely to go up from 24 degree Celsius to 26 degree Celsius on the five days.
While several streets in the city wear a deserted look with the onset of high temperature, cool drink and watermelon kiosks have become the most sought-after places for the people going out on personal work.
