Confident Kyrgios targets grass court season

2019-03-06 18:04

Cape Town - Not a fan of clay, Nick Kyrgios is focusing on hitting his straps when the grass court season comes around later in the year.

The Australian, who beat three top ten players including Rafael Nadal in Acapulco, has confirmed he will play at Queens in June - and he intends to win it.

"The courts are perfect, they suit my game and if I go well it will set me up perfectly for Wimbledon," Kyrgios said.

"I know what I can do if I'm feeling good, and I want to show that on the grass at Queen’s and Wimbledon this year.

"The Fever-Tree Championships is a great event, one of my good mates Andy Murray won the title five times there, so that shows how important it is."

British number one Kyle Edmund, new world No 10 Stefanos Tsitsipas, and defending champion Marin Cilic have all also signed up to play Queens 2019.
