Madiwala police have arrested a gang of six people in connection with the murder of a 73-year-old woman. The accused are Thippesh, Prasanna, Madhusudhan, Rakshitha, Madesh and Bhagya. They allegedly approached the victim, Hemavathi, a resident of 1st Cross on V. P. Road in Madiwala, on the pretext of looking for a house to rent.
On February 24, they allegedly persuaded her to go with them to a temple and made her drink spiked juice while travelling in Thippesh's car. When she fell asleep, the accused allegedly strangulated her near Kanakapura and threw her body in the Hemavathi canal after taking her valuables.
A release from the police said that the accused shared the money after selling the valuables. The police have recovered the jewels.
All the accused are in judicial custody.
