Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president Asaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday said that he sees ‘nothing wrong’ in the Supreme Court suggesting mediation on the Babri Masjid Ram Janmabhoomi issue.
Speaking to media at the party headquarters in Darusslaam, Mr Owaisi said that Section 89 of the Cr PC permits such a mediation.
“If the Supreme Court has suggested mediation in its wisdom, and the Muslim side and Nirmohi Akhada have accepted it, then I don’t see anything wrong in it,” Mr Owaisi said.
He said that at this juncture he was not in a position to say whether the ‘Muslim side’ would put forward a name for the arbitration process as it is for it to decide.
The Member of Parliament stated confidential, in-camera proceedings have been accepted by the Muslim side. This, he implied, would keep speculation, and politicisation at bay.
