The Health Department has issued an alert against the possible impact of the abnormal rise in day temperatures forecast by the India Meteorological Department in the coming days.
In a press release on Wednesday, District Medical Officer V. Jayashree said there was a possibility of sun stroke, burns, dehydration, and heat rash. The official said that those suspected to have been hit by sun stroke should be given urgent medical help and steps should be taken to cool their body. To avoid sun burns, venturing out into open spaces between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. should be avoided.
Construction sites and other working places should have enough drinking water and ORS packs. The body part hit by burns should be cleaned with cool water and medical help should be provided. Tender coconut water, butter milk, and ORS packs could help address dehydration. Drinking water should be clean to avoid the possibility of diarrhoea, jaundice, and vomiting.
