Prime Minister Narendra Modi donated Rs 21 lakh from his personal savings to corpus fund for welfare of Kumbh Mela sanitation workers. PM Modi had made such donations in the past too and this is the latest among the series of such steps taken by him. PM dedicated entire prize money of Seoul Peace Prize amounting to Rs 1.3 crore for the Namami Gange project. Additionally, he had donated Rs 3.40 crore from funds generated during auction of his mementos for clean Ganga initiative. PM Modi had also donated Rs 8.33 crore raised during an auction of gifts he had received till 2015. Upon completion of his tenure as Gujarat CM, Narendra Modi had donated Rs 21 lakh from his personal savings for educating daughters of state government employees. Rs 89.96 crore was raised by auctioning gifts he had received as the CM, which was donated to the Kanya Kelavani Fund.
