GURUGRAM: The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram has approved its first tenders for civic work at Sushant Lok 1 and South City 1, said its officials. "Last month, both of these societies had been handed over to MCG by developers but residents have been complaining of inadequacies. The tenders have been approved to cover the concerns raised by them," said an MCG official.

The projects will cost Rs 44 crore and Rs 16 crore in Sushant Lok 1 and South City 1 respectively, said officials, adding that the work would soon begin. The work would mainly focus on the roads, parks and sewer systems in the two private towns. "Contracts have been already awarded to Atlas, Narendra and Bansal contractors. Bansal would handle roads in South City 1 and in Sushant Lok 1 while water and sewer work would be carried out by Narendra," an official said.

He added, "We had received official representations of local RWAs and then got the estimation for the tenders. After this, we had got it sanctioned from Chandigarh and now finally tenders have been approved. We are also meeting with the residents. " On Monday, local MP Rao Indrajit Singh and the ward councillor had laid a foundation stone in South City 1 and Sushant Lok.

The residents in Sushant Lok 1 have asked for a speedy process. "They said the work will be completed by May 15. We also requested them to look into our electric problems. Most of out transformers are faulty," a resident said. The residents of South City 1 said they have been meeting with MCG officials. "The transfer and then the maintenance was a very big issue, which has been our demand for a long time. It is a positive development," said Harish, a resident.
