Pune: Two Senate members from the Management Council of Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), Sanjay Chakne and Bageshree Manthalkar have been appointed as advisers in the state National Service Scheme (NSS) Advisory Committee.

The State Government had issued a resolution on March 2, in view of implementing the NSS and its functioning properly at universities and colleges in the state, a new advisory. The revamping of the Advisory Committee was done according to the NSS code.

The committee will consist of a total of 18 members including State Higher and Technical Education Minister Vinod Tawde as head and candidates from universities and colleges, also from State Youth Affairs and Sports Department.

“A  role similiar to our work on university level, will be played at state-level. The Advisory Committee gives innovative ideas which are practiced under NSS by the students,” said Manthalkar, who has also been member of NSS Advisory Committee at SPPU.

“We are not told about the assuming of our responsibilities. I doubt our appointments will be effective from March because soon the Code of Conduct will be implied. I suppose the government has issued the circular of names of members so that we can start our counseling process from April and May.,” added Manthalkar.
