BHOPAL: With the BJP continuing its diatribe against the Congress leader Digvijaya Singh over his controversial remarks on Pulwama terror attack and air strikes in Pakistan, Madhya Pradesh chief minister Kamal Nath on Tuesday distanced himself from Singh's statement saying he was not aware what he had stated.
"I am not aware what Digvijaya Singh had said, but noting is hidden that will not be made known. Everything will come to light. All information will be uncovered in and outside the country", said Nath replying to a query on Digjvijaya's statement on Pulwama attack on CRPF soldiers.
Digvijaya, the Congress leader and former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, had on Tuesday courted controversy after he termed the Pulwama attack an "accident" and said that "doubt" expressed in some foreign media reports over the February 26 IAF air strike is putting a question mark on the credibility of the Indian government.
"After the Pulwama accident (durghatna) and the Indian air force strike, doubt (sandeh) is being expressed in some foreign media reports following which the credibility of the government is in question", said Digvijaya Singh in a series of tweets early this morning.
The Congress leader had also raised queries over the number of terrorists killed in the air strikes in Pakistan. Sources in the Congress disclosed that, senior party leaders and AICC members have also refused to react on Digvijaya calling Pulwama attack an 'accident'. Later, in the evening, Singh in another tweet clarified that he mentioned 'durghatna' (accident) which means 'mishappening' or 'bad incident'.
"Durghatna means ashubh (bad) ghatna (incident). Please do not circulate lies for political mileage. Your party's Manoj Tiwari is trying to woo voters in army uniform. You must speak out on this being an ex-serviceman. Stop politicising unnecessarily", replied Digvijaya Singh on General VK Singh's remarks on his tweets.
As Digvijaya's tweets triggered a major reaction in the political circles across the country, former chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan lashed out at him saying, Congress leaders have stooped to the extent of denouncing our own country. They have been blinded by the urge to oppose Prime Minister Narendra Modi without thinking that they would oppose their own nation to help its rivals.
"First time our country has beaten the rivals in their home. Air strikes by IAF have honoured the country and Prime Minister Modi has also gained reputation. But some people dislike this. They disgrace the country. I feel shameful on such friends. Will not say more on this", Chouhan reacted sharply attacking Digijvijaya Singh without naming him.
More invective was hurled at the Congress leader by the BJP when party MLA from Hazur (Bhopal) Rameshwar Sharma alleged that Digvijaya is speaking the language of Pakistan as if he was a member of the terrorist group.
"Congress leader Digvijaya Singh is seeking evidence of the airstrikes conducted by the Indian air force on Jaish-e-Mohammad camps in Pakistan. It seems that he is not a general secretary of Congress but of JeM", alleged Sharma.
