A 19-year-old man was allegedly set upon by a woman after he asked her and her partner to keep their noise down on a train.

Footage shows the woman allegedly throttle the teenager over the head, before getting dragged away in the opposite direction.

The teen and his friends were travelling on the Wynyard to Hornsby train in Sydney early Sunday morning when the alleged incident took place, The Daily Telegraph reported.

Police have since charged a 30-year-old woman from Hamlyn Terrace, on the Central Coast, with assault causing actual bodily harm.

A 30-year-old man was also charged with two counts of assault.

In the footage, a shirtless man was seen doubling back into the group of teenagers after the alleged assault had taken place, threatening the boys with more drama.

'Are you right man? Where did she hit you, do I need to get a paramedic?' a friend of the boy who was allegedly glassed could be heard saying after he saw blood spatterings on the train carriage floor.

Paramedics treated the boy at Hornsby station at 12:30am before taking him to a nearby hospital, where he needed 10 stitches to close the deep gash.

He was also allegedly punched in the face, leaving him with a broken nose and shattered teeth.

The boy's mother claims the couple moved into the group's train carriage and proceeded to have a loud argument.

After a short while, the boy asked them to keep the noise levels down, prompting the alleged attack.

The woman was formally refused bail and is expected to appear in court next month.
