GHAZIABAD: A 36-year-old constable posted at Vijay Nagar police station has been missing for past six days. He had been deputed at Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj and returned to Ghaziabad on February 25, but went missing a day later, his family said.

Sanjeev Yadav, a resident of Firozabad, had been posted in Ghaziabad for the past eight years and served at various police stations. He was living alone in Vijay Nagar’s Siddharth Vihar, while his father Heera Lal (75), and son (13) live in Firozabad. He had remarried after his first wife died 12 years ago. His second wife had divorced him around four years ago.

Heera Lal said Sanjeev came to Firozabad first from Prayagraj to meet his son on February 22. “On February 25, he had registered his entry at Police Lines, but went missing before joining Vijay Nagar police station,” Lal added.

Lal said he last spoke to his son on February 26, and soon after that, his phone became unreachable. After failing to locate him in the next two days, he came to Ghaziabad and lodged a missing person’s complaint on Friday at Vijay Nagar police station.

“A complaint has been registered. Efforts are being made to trace him,” a police officer told TOI.
