AHMEDABAD: Families of two neighbours living in quarters of MG Science College in Navrangpura allegedly came to blows on Monday over a stray dog.

One of the families claimed that they were beaten by neighbours after they objected to beating of the dog. On the other hand, another family said that they were thrashed as a girl in the neighbourhood doubted that the stray dog, which was being fed by them, was beaten on their instructions.

Rina Yadav (28), whose father is a pump operator in MG Science College, said that she used to feed stray dogs as they used to sit in front of their house. On Saturday, one of these dogs was beaten by some labourer, who work in the college campus, on instruction of her neighbour Ramchet Yadav’s family. On this issue, Rina’s family had a quarrel with Ramchet’s family. But later both the families decided to strike compromise over the issue.

“On Sunday morning, when Rina’s mother Ramlali and sister Ruchi were sitting in courtyard of their house, Ramchet’s wife Sunita allegedly started abusing them. When Rina came to talk to them, Sunita started beating her up. When Rina’s sister and mother tried to intervene, Sunita’s son Pavan and her uncle Ramchandra Yadav slapped Rina and then hit her sister with a stick,” stated the FIR filed by Rina.

The neighbour’s family also filed an FIR with Gujarat University police. Sunita, who was alleged of beating Rina and her family members, stated in her FIR that Rina’s dogs used to bark at them and used to run behind kids to bite them.
