The prime minister Narendra Modi made a surprise visit to his mother Hiraba on Monday at his younger brother Pankaj's residence located in the outskirts of Gandhinagar. The prime minister stayed here for almost 20 years. He sought the blessings from his mother for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Earlier, the prime minister met his mother five times after becoming the chief minister and he would meet her on his birthdays. The prime minister had met Hiraba last time on January 19 during Vibrant Gujarat Summit and had spent half an hour with her.

As usual, the prime minister avoided taking the convoy while meeting his mother. Later to this, the prime minister also visited the famous Dholeshwar Mahadev temple near Gandhinagar.

The prime minister offered puja on the occasion of Shivratri festival. The Gandhinagar unit of BJP had made all the arrangements for the puja.

Gandhinagar city BJP chief Mahendra Patel said, "The prime minister has deep faith in Lord Shiva. The temple is ancient and it is believed that who so ever offers puja here, all their wishes come true. We have deep faith in Lord Shiva and wish that Modi is elected as prime minister again after Lok Sabha polls."
