Chanda LCB seizes arms from peddler

Chandrapur: The local crime branch sleuths seized a cache of arms from a drug peddler during a raid on his house in Babupeth locality on Monday night. Three women were arrested from the house, but the main accused Sonusingh Tak managed to flee.
Superintendent of police, Maheswar Reddy, informed that the LCB got a tip-off about Tak being involved in drug peddling in the city. Accordingly, a team led by LCB in-charge OG Kokate raided his house near Vittubaba temple on Junona Road in Babupeth. As the police team raided the house, Sonusingh fled from there. Cops managed to seize 25.29 grams of drugs apart from a large number of weapons.
The seized arms include a country-made pistol, a 12-bore rifle, an airgun, five swords, three knives, a spear and two choppers. Cops also recovered some bullets and cash Rs79,960 during the raid. Three women living in the house were taken into custody. A case under relevant sections of NDPS Act and Arms Act has been registered.
