Noida: The 6.6-km Noida City Centre to Noida Electronic City section of Delhi Metro, an extension of the Blue Line, was inspected on Monday for safety, paving way for its opening, an official said.
A team led by commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) S K Pathak inspected the elevated section comprising six stations — Sector 34, Sector 52, Sector 61, Sector 59, Sector 62 and Noida Electronic City. The team had reached Sector 34 metro station at 12 noon and inspected each station.
During the inspection, several civil, operations and system readiness like height of OHE cables and measurement among others were examined.
Once operational, the extended corridor will bring the Blue Line close to the recently-opened Aqua Line, which connects Noida and Greater Noida. This extension of the Blue Line is a part of DMRC’s Phase 3 project, Dwarka Sector 21 to Noida City Centre route. The new corridor will reduce travel time and also unclog traffic while commuting from Noida to Delhi and vice versa. Though the officials have not shared details about its inauguration, it is expected to be made functional by March-end.
