Jamshedpur- bound train catches fire in South India, several trains delayed

The massive fire broke out in the pantry of the Yesvantpur-Tatanagar Superfast Express at East Godavari district about 263 km north-east of Amaravathi, the main city of Andhra Pradesh.

 

In a bid to prevent fire from spreading the staff separated the pantry car from other coaches soon after the blaze engulfed the bogie, according to officials.

 

The train from Bengaluru, capital city of the southern state of Karnataka, was heading to Jamshedpur in the eastern state of Jharkhand.

 

The cause of fire was not immediately known. a probe has been initiated to ascertain the actual cause.

 

The incident caused delay of trains on the Vijayawada-Vizag sector, railway officials said.
