2020 Alpina B7 xDrive: A Super Limo With 600 HP And A $141,700 Price Tag

Alpina has presented their new range-topping B7 xDrive LWB super-limo based on the facelifted BMW 7-Series at the Geneva Motor Show. We’ve updated our gallery below with live images. (Update 3/5/2019)

Buyers in the market for a more dynamic version of BMW’s updated 7-Series sedan will soon be able to drive the new Alpina B7 xDrive, scheduled to go on sale in Q3 of this year, priced from $141,700 in the U.S.

If performance is your main concern, know that the 4.4-liter twin turbo V8 engine in the 2020 B7 can deliver 600 HP and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque, allowing you to get from zero to 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 3.5 seconds, before maxing out at 205 mph (330 km).

Compared to the outgoing B7, the new one is quicker to 60 mph by 0.1 seconds and faster overall by 11 mph (18 km/h). The German tuner also updated the 8-speed automatic transmission’s software, while the custom stainless steel sports exhaust system reduces both back pressure and weight.

Other technical mods include a revised brake system with 4-piston fixed calipers paired to 15.55 x 1.42 inch discs up front, and larger 15.67 x 1.10 inch discs at the rear, Michelin performance tires, 20-inch Alpina Classic wheels (optional 21″ ones available), and a re-calibrated performance oriented xDrive all-wheel drive system, said to increase agility, especially under lateral acceleration.

Sharp and Elegant

The exterior of the 2020 Alpina B7 has been fitted with a new front bumper with functional air intakes, free-floating Alpina lettering and horizontal character lines, custom rear spoiler, quad elliptical tailpipes and exclusive paint finishes such as Alpina Blue Metallic and Green Metallic.

Inside, buyers will find Nappa leather, multi-functional comfort seats, a leather instrument panel, ceramic inserts and soft-close doors as standard. Meanwhile, features like the full-color head-up display, rear view camera and the latest BMW iDrive 7 system are also available.

Still, the tuner did ad personal touches such as hand-finished surfaces boasting high-quality Lavalina leather, blue and green stitching on the sports steering wheel, custom inscriptions and individual production plaque, a new Alpina design for the color digital instrument display, contemporary Piano lacquer or classic Myrtle Luxury Wood interior trim, door sills with blue illumination and improved acoustic comfort – laminated glass with an increased thickness of 0.2 inches used on the windscreen, side windows and rear window.

Extras, extras everywhere

Buyers can opt for the optional Rear Executive Lounge Seating with Touch Command and Rear-seat entertainment, although it’s the standard equipment list that impresses most: Dynamic Damper Control and two-axle air suspension, Active Comfort Drive with Road Preview, soft-close automatic doors and comfort keyless entry, panoramic sunroof, power rear sunshades, front ventilated and heated multi-contour seats with massage function, heated front seat armrests, heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, Harman/Kardon surround sound system, adaptive full LED lights with automatic high beam, wireless charging, gesture control, Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay with 1-year trial and plenty more.

As for individually available options, they include the panoramic Sky Lounge LED roof, BMW Laserlight, Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System, Rear-seat Entertainment Professional, Night Vison with Pedestrian Detection and 21-inch Alpina Classic wheels.

Last but not least are the standard safety assist systems, which include the Extended Traffic Jam Assistant for limited access highways, Active Blindspot Detection, Frontal Collision Warning with City Collision Mitigation, Lane Departure Warning, Speed Limit Information, and Rear-Cross-traffic Alert and Collision preparation – all part of the Active Driving Assistant Professional bundle.
