CHANDIGARH: A PGI doctor has alleged his domestic help stole foreign and Indian currency from his house in Sector 24.
Krishan Gauba, head of department, oral sciences and dental department, PGI, said he had hired Kewal, a resident of Muktsar, Punjab, in November last year. Around 15 days back, Kewal went to his native place and did not return. Gauba called him up several times, but he did not answer his phone. Finally, he answered a phone call and told Gauba he would not be joining back. Becoming suspicious, he checked his almirah and found 2,000 US dollars, 600 Canadian dollars, 250 Euros, 350 Swiss Francs, 300 Singapore Dollars and Rs 20,000 missing. Police said the doctor used to regularly visit foreign countries. Police said the accused was living in the servant quarters at the doctor’s house.
On the complaint of Gauba, Sector 11 police registered a case under Section 381 (theft by clerk or servant of property in possession of master) of IPC against his servant and started investigation. Cops said no arrest has been made in the case so far. They said a team would be dispatched to Muktsar to arrest the servant.
