7 labourers held for attempt to murder

Coimbatore: Seven migrant labourers were arrested by the Coimbatore rural police for attempting to murder two other labourers inside a textile mill compound at Nadupalayam on Tuesday.

The injured migrant labourers were identified as N Mahadev, 20, and B Santhan Kumar, 55, both hailing from Bihar. They were working at Sree Baby Textile at Nadupalayam near Peedampalli. The Sulur police said Mahadev and Santhan Kumar were taking bath near a water tank inside the textile mill compound on March 3 around 5pm. B Mandu, 18, of Odisha, a labourer in the textile mill, came there and threw a mug on Santhan Kumar. Mahadev and Santhan Kumar questioned Mandu and a wordy quarrel arose between them. Meanwhile, the mill management intervened and warned them. On Monday around 2am, Mandu and six other, all hailing from Odisha, attacked Mahadev and Santhan Kumar with weapons and wooden logs. Santhan Kumar and Mahadev suffered severe head injuries and were admitted at the CMCH.TNN
