Bhopal: Will the state capital unseat Indore and bag the first position in Swachh Survekshan 2019? Or it will slip down the cleanliness ladder? Answer to these questions will be revealed on Wednesday when the results of the Swachh survey will be announced.
Ironically, post survey the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) and gone on sleep mode and the entire cleanliness drive has taken a back seat Indore and Bhopal– the two state cities had retained their position as the top two cleanest cities for the second consecutive year in last year cleanliness survey.
Even as the residents and all those in the administrative and government circle wait with bated breath for the results, Bhopal is unlikely to retain even the current rank given the ‘effort’ put in by the municipal authorities and the of course the people’s contribution.
The energy and the determination to surpass Indore, that was witnessed previous year, was nowhere to be seen this this time. Bhopal, Indore and Ujjain are the top contenders from the state. It seems that the BMC was only keen in ensuring its rank in the cleanliness ladder, as post survey the civic body which was visibly ‘active’ during the survey, has become lax after the Central team completed the survey in the city this January.
Swachh Survekshan team had come to city for its validation work, they after taking stock of ground reality of cleanliness in the city had given its feedback to Union government.
