ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) The end is near for the hit television show and probably most of its characters as the trailer for the final season of 'Game of Thrones' was released by HBO on Tuesday morning (March 5).

The series, based on the novels by George R.R.

Martin, has thrilled audiences around the world with its ruthless killings of popular characters.

The trailer shows all the key players (with a few exceptions) as they prepare to unite against the White Walkers who are threatening the fictional realm of Westeros.

However, aside from their common enemy, there is still Westeros' Iron Throne to compete and kill for.

Secrecy has been steep around the production and fans have been theorizing as to which character might end up ruling Westeros.

The final series of 'Game of Thrones' begins on April 14.
