The Thiruvananthapuram Press Club is organising a variety of programmes here from April 5 to 15 to mark the golden jubilee of the Institute of Journalism established by the club.
The programmes include an expo on the history of the media, all India photography competition, a function to honour veteran journalists, and cultural events. A national bird, animal and ornamental fish exhibition and a mango, jackfruit and banana festival are also being organised in association with the city Corporation and the Centre for Innovation in Science and Social Action (CISSA), an NGO.
The exhibition titled Kanakotsavam will be held at the Suryakanthi grounds on the Kanakakunnu palace premises. Other highlights of the event include an amusement park for children, exhibition of wax statues, tribal mela, agricultural exhibition, band contest, medical expo, and cooking competition.
The winner of the S.S. Ram- S. Harisankar memorial news photography award will get a cash prize of ₹1,00,000.
