Objecting to the intervention of Andhra Pradesh Police in the data breach case filed against two Hyderabad-based IT firms, Cyberabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar said that “nobody will be spared and they (AP Police) trying to influence the complainant, witnesses and their family members cannot be appreciated.”

The AP Police have visited the homes of four IT Grids employees — Regonda Bhaskar, Phani Kadukuri, Vikram Goud Rebbala and Gurudu Chandra Sekhar — and tried to bring pressure on them to reveal about the questions asked by the Cyberabad police, he said.

On Saturday too, the AP police barged into complainant Thummala Lokeshwara Reddy’s house, abused and tried to detain him. However, their attempt was foiled after KPHB police swung into action.

“Even today they harassed the family members of four persons in whose presence searches were conducted and incriminating material was seized on Saturday,” he said.

Jurisdiction violation

If they resort to such ‘illegal’ activities in the commissionerate, cases will be slapped against them, Mr. Sajjanar warned his A.P. counterparts during a press conference here on Monday.

He pointed out that over 50 cases of wrongful deletions of electors’ names from the electoral rolls have been registered in Andhra Pradesh at the behest of the Election Commission. We are also writing to UIDAI and the Election Commission seeking details. Notices have been served on Amazon Web Services, which is hosting the data of the private firm, he added.

When queried whether Telangana police would be writing to AP Director General of Police on the presence of their personnel in Hyderabad without seeking the help of local police, the Commissioner said: “Yes, we will write to Andhra Pradesh DGP about their police intervention in a case registered in Hyderabad. They should not come into our jurisdiction without taking permission,”

Mr. Sajjanar said that a person registered a missing case of Regonda Bhaskar in Pedakakani police station of Guntur and in less than four hours, AP Police came to Hyderabad in search of him.

‘Peculiar incident’

“This is a very peculiar incident, where an officer of DSP rank along with his team comes searching for a missing person within four hours after lodging a complaint,” he said.

Around 5.30 p.m. a lady sub-inspector registered a missing case of Mr. Bhaskar and by 9 p.m. the DSP and his team were present in Madhapur police station inquiring about him, Mr Sajjanar said.

“I’m surprised that Guntur police reached Hyderabad in three hours,” he pointed out. The AP police also visited the house of Mr. Reddy, who had nothing to do with the missing case.
