CM inaugurates host of development projects for civic body

Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami inaugurated a slew of development projects worth over ₹ 65 crore of the municipal corporation through video conference from Chennai on Monday.

The Chief Minister inaugurated the Amma Ecological pavilion built at a cost of ₹ 50 lakh near new bus stand here. Funded by the State Pollution Control Board, the 2, 000 sq.ft. pavilion is built in the shape of a cave has fibre models of wild animals such as leopard, gaur, deer and various others. The cave like structure also hosts an artificial waterfall. Replicas of various completed and upcoming infrastructural projects like reconstruction of old bus stand in Salem are also on display here.

Mr. Palaniswami also inaugurated over 88 km. of the corporation road development works under various schemes here. According to a release, the civic body will be repairing 67.32 km. of roads under it at a cost of ₹40 crore through the Tamil Nadu Urban Road Infrastructure Fund. The Corporation will also be relaying about 21 km. of roads affected due to underground drainage pipeline and drinking water pipeline laying works at a cost of ₹21.1 crore under Integrated Urban Development Mission.

Mr. Palanisami also laid the foundation for the construction of an indoor stadium at a cost of ₹ 3.51 crore under the Smart City Mission near Kottai here.

District Collector Rohini R. Bhajibhakare, Corporation Commissioner R. Sadheesh and V. Paneerselvam, MP, were present as part of the inauguration here.
