Berhampur: Union minister of state for railways Manoj Sinha on Monday claimed that the investment in railways in Odisha has grown in the last five years under the Narendra Modi government compared to the previous UPA government.
Several development works, including modernisation, doubling of railway lines, electrification, new railway line work in the Maoist-affected areas like Koraput, Malkangiri and Rayagada have been taken up in the state, he said addressing a public rally at Luchapada near here.

“I inaugurated a new escalator and foot overbridge at the Berhampur railway station here,” he said. Sinha also inaugurated railway projects worth Rs 3 crore at the station through videoconferencing from Bhubaneswar earlier.

He addressed the BJP Sankalpa rally where he asked the workers to ensure the victory of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Sinha was here along with Odia cine artist Anu Choudhury, who also addressed the gathering. She urged the people to change the government in the state. “The time has come to change this government as it has failed to fulfill the aspirations of the people,” she said.

During his whirlwind tour, Sinha visited Kandhamal district and addressed a public meeting at Phiringia. Then he left for Puri to address a similar rally there.
