Kegel exercises strengthen perineal muscles

more-in

I find that when I do very rigorous exercise, I am not able to hold my pee in. What do I do? I am 38.

Does urine also come out during coughing or sneezing? It could be a condition called stress urinary incontinence. When there is an increase in intra-abdominal pressure, urine involuntarily comes out. This is due to laxity of the vaginal wall, and the urethral valve. Start off with kegel exercises that strengthen the perineal muscles. If that fails, there is a simple operation, known as TVT (trans vaginal tape), where a small tape is put through the vagina to lift up the bladder neck so that there is no incontinence. It’s an OPD procedure, and a permanent cure.

My daughter’s periods are very irregular; the date changes every month, and is usually late. She achieved menarche at 12. Could you please tell me what to do?

At least two to three years after menarche, periods are usually irregular; once the hormonal pattern is established, the periods become regular. Therefore, it is not of much concern if the dates vary. However, if the periods don’t come for more than a period of two to three months, then it is advisable to do a hormonal evaluation.

I have some pain with penetration, during sexual intercourse. What do I need to do?

You need to have a check-up with a gynaecologist, to rule out any localised infection. If there’s no infection, you can try using lubricating gels.
