Chandigarh: Family attacked for standing up against daughter's stalker

CHANDIGARH: A woman was harassed by her stalker in Ram Darbar on Sunday. Her family members were allegedly attacked by miscreants with sharp-edged weapons, iron rods and bricks near his house. The woman's father alleged that his daughter was eve-teased by unknown miscreants. Sector 31 police registered a case of rioting, assault and started probe in the case. No arrest has been made in the attack.
The complainant told the cops that his daughter had gone to the market when miscreants tried to harass her. She immediately called up her family members who reached the spot. The woman's father, brother and uncle nabbed the accused who then called his friends and told them about the incident. Over 7-8 persons reached the spot and assaulted the woman's family with sharp-edge weapons. The woman's father and brother were injured in the attack. The family members called the PCR who reached the spot. The victims were taken to Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32. Police recored the statements of the woman and her family members.
On the complaint of woman's father, a case under Sections 147 (Punishment for rioting), 148 (Rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 149 (Every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object), 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) , 324 (Voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) and 354D (stalking) of the Indian Penal Code was registered against the accused.
