Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee working president and former MP Ponnam Prabhakar has called upon citizens of the State to elect Congress candidates from all 17 Parliament constituencies to show gratitude to Congress leader Sonia Gandhi for her decision to carve out a separate Telangana State.
Speaking to newsmen here on Sunday, he said Ms. Gandhi, in spite of opposition, had convinced the BJP national leaders and ensured the passage of Telangana Bill in Parliament. Stating that the people had already given verdict in favour of TRS in the Assembly elections last December, Mr. Prabhakar said there is no role for TRS in national politics and the contest is only between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and AICC president Rahul Gandhi.
‘TRS-BJP collusion’
Alleging that the TRS had colluded with the BJP for a federal front only to benefit the BJP and deceive the people of Telangana, he demanded that the TRS MPs release a white paper on the funds secured from the Union government during its five-year term. “Election of TRS candidates in Parliament polls would only benefit TRS supremo K. Chandrasekhar Rao and not people of Telangana.”
He also ridiculed Karimnagar MP B. Vinod Kumar for neglecting the Parliament constituency.
