Three die in road accidents in Ambala, seven deaths in a week

AMBALA: The district police have registered three separate cases of deaths by negligence in three road accidents at different spots in Ambala. The cases have been registered at Ambala Sadar, Panjokhra and Shahzadpur police station.
Anil Kumar, a resident of village Devi Nagar in Ambala, an eye-witness, complained against an unknown driver of a car who has hit a rickshaw of Amarjit Singh near village Devinagar on GT Road. Singh received serious injuries in the accident and has died while undergoing treatment at Ambala City hospital. A case has been registered at Ambala Sadar police station.
In another case, Panjokhra police have registered a case on the complaint of Surender Kumar, a resident of Jatwad, against an unknown driver of a car who hit a bullock-cart on March 2, near the village. In the accident, Didar Singh died on the spot.
In another case, Shahzadpur police have registered a case on the complaint of Prem Singh, a resident of village Rachheri, against an unknown car driver for hitting his brother Paramjit's motorcycle on February 26. Paramjit succumbed to his injuries on Saturday.
Cases under sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 304-A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code have been registered to start the further investigation by the district police.
In the last one week, Ambala police have registered seven cases of road accident deaths. A senior police official said, "Majority of accidents are happening as the commuters are breaking traffic rules. We are working to spread awareness through various programmes."
