A mother who watched on as her drag racer son's car burst into flames during a racing event has revealed she knew he wouldn't survive.
Brody Ford, 26, died after his Ford Mustang failed to stop at the end of a drag strip during a Racewars event in Albany, in Western Australia's south, at around 11.30am on Sunday.
The car, which was travelling at extreme speeds, careened off the track, smashed through a fence and burst into flames in front of horrified on-lookers, including his mother and father.
'We just jumped in our car and just flew down there. It's devastating. No parent should ever have to see their child having CPR in a paddock that is on fire and a mangled wreck,' Mr Ford's mother Lynda told Perth Now.

Plumes of black smoke filled the air as emergency services were called to the scene.
After he was pulled from the wreckage, he was rushed to the Royal Perth Hospital.
The extent of the 26-year-old's injuries were so severe, his parents said they knew they had lost their son.
'We sat with him until the early hours and then we took him off the ventilator and that was it,' she said.
His devastated family have now been left to wonder what could have been in store for a passionate life taken too soon.

His devastated parents and former girlfriend, Maddison Shanhun (pictured left) have all paid tribute to Mr Ford, calling him was 'courageous, ambitious and loving'
'He was just so young. The world was his oyster. He worked hard and he had the cash to go out and do the things he wanted to do, but he still had a lot of stuff up his sleeve that he wanted to tick the boxes for as well,' Lynda said.
Mr Ford's former girlfriend, Maddison Shanhun, who still remained close to him, wrote a heartfelt tribute on Facebook, telling friends that she had lost her 'courageous, ambitious and loving' friend.
'I never thought this day would come, not until you were old and frail,' she wrote.
'You flew into the stars doing something you loved so dearly. You gave me 4 years of laughter and adventures. You're now onto this adventure without me.'
'I hope heaven is filled with luxury cars, the bluest beaches, and the most beautiful sunrises. Until I see you again, fly high,' she wrote.
The incident was the second crash at the event within two hours.

Racewars organisers issued a statement after deciding to cancel the event
'Motorsport is a cruel mistress at times but we all understand the risks of participation,' they said in a statement.
'We remain committed to grassroots Motorsport and the social and safety benefits of taking speed off the streets.'
