Over a dozen candidates have declared their intentions to run for the 2020 presidential nomination from the Democratic Party...and now you can add another name to the list.????Former Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper has announced he will run for president.????Besides arguably having a name as interesting as fellow candidate Pete Buttigieg, Hickenlooper becomes the second Democratic governor to join the race, following Washington State’s Jay Inslee.
????Hickenlooper went from losing his job as a geologist to opening a brewpub in Denver to becoming that city’s mayor in 2003 before serving two terms as Colorado’s governor.????The campaign launch video entitled “Standing Tall” features Hickenlooper saying he’s running because everything we stand for is being threatened while images of President Trump play.????Hickenlooper says “As a skinny kid with coke bottle glasses and a funny last name, I’ve stood up to my fair share of bullies.”????A Denver send off will take place before Hickenlooper heads to Iowa and then the South by Southwest event in Austin, Texas.????According to CNN, there have been talks between the Democratic Party to convince the former governor to challenge Republican Cory Gardner for that Colorado Senate seat in 2020…????...but Hickenlooper declined saying after spending so many years as an executive, he dreaded the idea of being a legislator.
