Unidentified miscreants vandalised statues of former Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao at three places in Guntur sparking tension in the city.
Superintendent of Police Ch.Vijaya Rao said that statues of NTR were found in a damaged condition at Stambalagaruvu, Nehru Nagar and in A.T Agraharam.
A police investigation is on over the issue, he added.
The police in Guntur have been on tenterhooks since Sunday evening. Jana Sena Party activists staged a sit-in in front of Arundelpet police station demanding immediate release of party activists who were taken for questioning in connection with posting some objectionable content on the social media.
