Mercury up by 3.9 degree celsius

Kozhikode district reported a rise in maximum temperature by 3.9 degrees celsius on Sunday, even as the Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) repeated its warning that Kerala was in for a sweltering week ahead.

The maximum temperature in Kozhikode rose by 3.9 degree celsius to 37 degrees celsius, while it went up by over one degree celsius in Alappuzha, Kottayam and Thiruvananthapuram, as per an update by the IMD Meteorological Centre in Thiruvananthapuram.

“The maximum temperature rose appreciably in Thrissur district and no large change was recorded elsewhere over Kerala during the past 24 hours. However, it was appreciably above normal in Kozhikode district and remained normal elsewhere,” the Met Centre said.

As per the assessment of IMD, New Delhi, the maximum temperature in several places in the State had risen by 1.6 to 3 degree celsius on Saturday.
