Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has instructed Chief Secretary S.K. Joshi to release water from Left Canal of Nagarjunasagar to save crops in two lakh acres in Khammam district.
The Chief Minister took the decision following Sattupalli MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah’s request -- who met him at Pragathi Bhavan on Saturday.
The legislator explained to the Chief Minister that in Sattupally, Khammam, Paleru, Vyra, Madhira constituencies, two lakh acres of land is under cultivation. Water is needed for these crops and it be released for 10 days from Nagarjunasagar Left Canal to save the crops.
The MLA also submitted a representation to Mr. Rao.
